I am amazed at the con artists that surface during tough economic times.
A couple weeks ago at Huntington Beach Broker Preview, we heard that the newwest scam involves brand new homeowners. Once they sign documents and close on a home. Scammers research the newest home owners and send the new homeowners a notification of their first mortgage payment to be sent to their address. The problem is that they are not legitamately the mortgage note holder!
When the homeowner misses a payment, they receive a notice from the actual mortgage holder and you can see the mess that emerges.
